Legacy Pinup Pageant
Abernathy's Presents: The 6th Annual Legacy Pinup Pageant as a part of the Rod and Custom Show at The Bend XPO.
15 pinup beauties will come together to compete for the 6th 'Miss Legacy Pinup' title. Inspired by the styling of Rita Hayworth, Marilyn Monroe, and retro Hollywood glam from the 30's, 40's, and 50's. Contestants will be judged on vintage style, hair and makeup, stage presence, charisma, uniqueness, nerve, & talent!
This year's show is a 'Winter Dance Party' themed, inspired by 1940's and 1950's eleganza, including formal wear, prom dresses, and winter coats and furs. The Winter Dance party was also one of the last shows played by Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper, and Ritchie Valens before their death in Iowa in 1959. Contestants are encouraged to use the theme as inspiration in their wardrobe.
This contest welcomes all! If you are new to the world of 50's pinup, or a veteran of the pinup contest circuit, we invite you to participate! All genders are welcome.
Applications will open Thursday December 1st at 10am. Visit the Abernathy's Facebook page, or this event page to be updated with a link at that time.
Rules are as follows:
1.) Participants must be 18 years of age.
2.) Submissions start Thursday Dec. 1st 2022 at 10am
3.) There will be 15 girls total, the first 15 girls to complete the application and pay the application fee ($20) and submit their pinup photo will be selected for participation. Application fees are non refundable.
4.) Submissions pictures must be in portrait format to fit our template. Only 1 photo per contestant. If you have any questions please email ShopAbernathys@yahoo.com
5.) 2 contestants will be picked as an alternate, they will be picked in order to which they were submitted. Alternates will need to be available the day of the show, and if are not chosen to participate in the show will still be used for back stage prep.
6.) Cut off for submissions will be Friday Jan 13th 2023 at 5pm.
7.) We are looking for specific looks, such as 1940s, 50s, and early 60s is recommended. True vintage attire is also encouraged as well and reproduction.
8.) There will be 2 rounds during the contest. The first round all 15 girls will be on stage in order which you are placed, each contestant is called up by pinup name, required to do 3 POSES, and answer one question about themselves. The judges will narrow down to the top 7 based on overall look, poses, and answers
9. Second round, top 7 mini bios will be read and each girl asked 1 question.
10.) Top 3 winners then will be announced
*Grand prize winner: Title of Miss Legacy Pinup 2020, $300.00 cash prize, a photo shoot with photographer – Miss Jenna Sue to be redeemed following the contest, and a $100 Abernathy’s Gift Card
* 2nd place winner: $150.00 cash prize and $75 Abernathy’s Gift Card
* 3rd place winner: $50.00 cash prize and $50 Abernathy’s Gift Card
11.) ALL CONTESTANTS are asked to stay after the contest is over for group pictures. The top 3 winners will also be asked for a group photo as well.
12.) An email will be sent out from Becca from Abernathy’s to all the contestants before the contest to confirm your spot and give you any further details.
13.) Show takes place at the The Bend XPO in East Moline, IL, Sat Jan 14th. Contestants need to check in at the Abernathy's booth by 2:30pm and show starts at 3pm. Contestants who do not check in by 2:30pm will be subject to being cut from the show.
